Great trainer. This is the go-to trainer for Zwift at this price point. It's full functional with Zwift, including live adjustment of tension to simulate gradients. Power metering is accurate, and calibration of the wheel tension is very easy with a torque adjuster knob. Roadfeel is fantastic, it's quiet, and it's easy to set up. Feels sturdy.

Easy to set up. OK for Erg mode. Road Feel is a joke and makes it unrideable. Non existent documentation - nothing about calibration, nothing about how they determine gradient.. Any grade over about 3% is impossible to turn over. Feeds back so much resistance that I have to pedal at 55 rpm and 200W, Would normally be doing 80 rpm and 350W. Will work in Zwift if you change difficulty scale to 30-40%.

I've been on a few rides and so far this thing is awesome! Way nicer than the Minolta turbo trainer I was using. Only rode with Zwift so fat, but everything connects up beautifully (ant+). I am using the USB extension just for good measure.

I have used the Fluid 2 Trainer for over a year. Wanted Magnus for variable resistance when using Cycleops Virtual Training (which is also TERRIFIC).
Found it a little tough to use with the Sufferfest workouts...but may be my error.
Wish PowerCal would be picked up by Cycleops Virtual app, but it does not seem to be.

Large power curve. Quick release = consistent & easy setup

          Cons

            Best Uses

Construction: A little tricky to build out of the box; a how-to video would be useful. Once it's put together, the unit is very easy to use. The quick release means you're not over clamping the bike and switching bikes takes just a few seconds.

ANT+ vs Bluetooth: The trainer works with both, but I would recommend using bluetooth if possible. I was using the trainer in ANT+ mode and during acceleration there was a longer time lag between Zwift picking up the increase power output. I think this is because ANT+ refreshes data less frequently than Bluetooth. I noticed that running the trainer via Bluetooth provides a lot more lively feedback between Zwift and the trainer.

Power: It's rated for 1500 watts which is better than many older trainers in this price range (and sometimes higher) that top out at 950 watts. I have already hit 1100 on a sprint, so the large power supported on this trainer should be welcome to everyone looking for a great on-wheel trainer.

Noise: I have only used a mag trainer prior to this, but the noise level seems relatively quiet.

Bottom line: I researched a bunch of smart trainers and my totally subjective, non-scientific, and likely biased conclusion is that the Magnus is the best bang for the buck in its price range for a wheel-on smart trainer. Large power curve, sturdy construction, intuitive quick release and clutch knob are great features. Very happy with it.

It works great with the virtual training software (a bit shaky on the steep hills) and with other apps like zwift. It has a decent road feel to it and it is quiet enough to put on your living room! It is not too hard to put together, I do wish the "click" when setting the resistance was more audible (at least for my specific case).

After back and forth emails with customer support I was assured this trainer would work with my 650c bike even though it was not listed on the specifications. After receiving the trainer it in fact did not, I even had a second set of eyes look to verify that it was not due to customer error.

It's really easy to set up and use. The estimated power output is fairly accurate when checked against my powertap rear hub. I love having the ability to change the resistance with my computer or cellphone. There is however, a bit of lag time in the resistance adjustment. And the simulated climbs do not feel at all realistic.

I understand that you need to get the subscription in order to have access to recorded routes and videos. But how do you even use if it you don't have a subscription? I expected that there would be some basic workouts available, intervals, hills, etc. that you could use and record your progress. Is there nothing like that?

I'm not sure they have added support yet.

Is there a specific dongle that is required to be able to update the firmware on the trainer and sync it up with my PC for use of virtual training? From the product specifications it looked like a dongle would have been provided but that does not appear to be the case.

There are no firmware updates yet, but either a PC and Bluegiga dongle or iOS device will be necessary to update the trainer once we release an update. We will also update the product page with directions when that happens.

Hello, I have an Ice Adventure trike with a 24" rear wheel.
Currently I use the Fluid home trainer but I need a power measurement.
Can I buy the Magnus for my 24" rear wheel?

Sorry no, it's not compatible with wheels smaller than 26'' at this time.

Firmware badly needs to be reprogrammed and updated to improve road feel and improve calibration procedure. Terrible ride feel can easily be improved. How do we update the firmware. Claimed to be updateable over bluetooth but can't find any way to check firmware version or do an update on Android or PC CVT software.

I like the video of the FulGaz training app, but the Magnus doesn't seem to increase the resistance (more watts/speed) as I ascend the hills in the FulGaz app. Is this because the app is not compatible with the Magnus, or can this be made to work properly? With the Zwift app, resistance does increase and decrease throughout the video, but the video quality is more like a cartoon and I was hoping to see more realistic video and terrain. The Cycle Apps training app (trial) is also not very realistic in video quality. Are there any other more realistic riding apps that will work with the Magnus?

                              Thanks
